Wildlife Watching and Photographing
The bear is an animal that people take very seriously in Finland. Ancient Finns believed that you should not say the true name of the bear, because it was a sacred creature. So people thought of many pseudonyms to call him: Otso, Kontio, Mesikämmen or Honey-Paw, and Metsän Omena, meaning Apple of the Woods.
In Lapland, you might come across a herd of reindeer trotting across the road or trail in front of you. Reindeer are semi-domesticated, but they are allowed to roam freely to find food.
Guided tours are arranged to take you to the best places for watching wildlife and photography.
